Tips on Getting Around

  • Get there early to help avoid lines for the rides and to book reservations at restaurants and shows whenever possible.
  • One of the best ways to avoid long lineups is to go directly to the back of the park and work your way forward. Or, start at the right and work your way around the park counter-clockwise.
  • Ride Kraken or Journey to Atlantis right before the park closes at night. Most people are at the evening show so the lineups are almost nonexistent, and you can see the fireworks from the rides.
  • On Journey to Atlantis choose your seat wisely. You will get drenched if you sit in the front seat.
  • Get to Shamu Stadium as early as possible. The whole place fills up in a matter of minutes.
  • They aren't kidding when they label areas as 'Splash Zones'. If you choose to sit in these areas be sure to cover cameras and other non-waterproof items.
  • Arrive about 15 minutes prior to shows. On extremely crowded days, give yourself a little extra time to move about the park and ensure good seating.
  • Take your seat for the Clyde and Seamore show at least 15-30 minutes ahead of time. Latecomers miss out on their zany pre-show antics.
  • Temperatures can get quite high, especially in the middle of the day. Be sure to include a few stops in some of the air-conditioned shows during these times.
  • Animal meal times are the best times to meet some playful Atlantic Bottlenose dolphins, sea lions, and sting rays, who you can even feed by hand, but only at designated times throughout the day. Stop by in the morning to check the day's schedule, and then give yourself some extra time to get a great spot right at the water's edge.
  • Plan to have lunch during show performances and you'll get ahead of the crowds.
  • Enjoy an early dinner and then come back in the evening to enjoy the rides and nighttime shows when everyone else is leaving the parks or eating dinner.

Rides and Exhibits

The following are just a few of the many awesome rides, exhibits, and shows that exist in the immense theme park:

Manta

The big new attraction for summer 2009 is Manta. Once strapped in, the cab tips forward to leave you speeding around face down with the park way below. The cabs are shaped like manta rays, there are several near misses with water hazards and the boring wait to board is alleviated somewhat thanks to it passing through the ride's seven-acre aquarium, where you can gape in at the 300 rays that seem to swim in mesmerising circles.
