Twilight Zone Tower of Terror

A genuinely scary ride, the Tower of Terror is arguably the best ride in all of Walt Disney World. The once glamorous hotel is now old, neglected and full of dust and cobwebs and very questionable freight elevators. Once you travel to the top you'll be plunged into darkness and down a 13-story fall, and rise, and fall, and rise, and...well, you get the idea.

Tips

  • Visit at night and see the Fantasmic fireworks show. It combines explosive pyrotechnics, amazing water effects, and lasers along with classic Disney songs, characters, and animation. Try to arrive at least 30 minutes before showtime.
  • If you plan to ride the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror, make sure to get a FastPass for one before getting in line for the other. They're very close to each other so the timing works well.
  • If staying at a Disney-owned resort, take advantage of the Extra Magic hours, where lines are short and crowds are small.
  • Make use of fastpasses in order to save time. Fastpass rides and attractions at Disney's Hollywood Studios include Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Lights, Cameras, Action! Extreme Stunt Show, Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Star Tours and Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
  • Don't bother getting fastpasses for live shows. Just get there half an hour before the show starts.
  • There are no water rides per se in this park, so try to head to the air-conditioned shows at the hottest times of the day.
  • There are two ATMs at Disney's Hollywood Studios: one just outside the Park entrance and one inside Toy Story Pizza Planet.
  • Check the tip board at the corner of Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards for a list of the day's shows, ride closings, and other important information.
  • Many of the attractions and shows stop admitting guests prior to the Park's official closing time. Attractions that you may enter up until the very last minute include Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, The Great Movie Ride, Muppet Vision 3-D, and Star Tours.
  • The shops on Hollywood Boulevard are open a half hour past Park closing.
  • Many Disney characters can be found wandering around Mickey Avenue near the entrance of the park, so bring your camera and autograph book.
  • Study a map of the Park prior to your arrival to become familiar with the location of the attractions you are most interested in. Make a plan before your arrival to make sure you hit all the rides and attractions you want.
